Why do Chiropractors require so many visits?2021-01-19T21:59:24-05:00

Repeat visits are often necessary because our treatment is hands-on and typically requires a cumulative effect. When working in a physical way with a physical condition, repeat treatments are necessary to train the body just as repeat exercise is necessary to train for strength.

Do Chiropractors work with other Doctors?2021-01-19T21:59:08-05:00

Of Course. It is sometimes thought that Chiropractors and Medical Doctors operate independently of one another, but that mindset has been fading dramatically over the last 20 years. Today we work together with the understanding that both Physical Medicine, Nutrition, Medication, and Surgical intervention all have their place, and when used correctly, they can all be of great benefit to patients when they are necessary, and used together can often times be much more synergistic than on their own.

Is Chiropractic Care safe?2021-01-19T21:58:27-05:00

A Chiropractic adjustment is safe when it’s performed by someone trained and licensed to deliver chiropractic care.

Dr. Hanson is licensed in the State of Florida and South Carolina, and has been practicing for over 15 years without incident or complaint.

Do chiropractors write prescriptions?2020-12-31T03:04:06-05:00

No. It’s not so much a matter of “can’t” as it is “don’t want to.” The school of chiropractic medicine was founded as an alternative to the dangerous drugs and procedures in use by the medical profession at the end of the 19th century. In most states and under federal law, chiropractors are also regarded as physicians, with the only difference between us and medical doctors being that chiropractic doctors do not prescribe medications and medical doctors cannot safely adjust the spine. In some states, chiropractors can perform minor in-office surgery.

Are chiropractic adjustments similar to massage?2020-12-31T03:03:46-05:00

No. Chiropractic deals with the spinal column, nervous system, meninges and body structure. Massage therapists deal with muscle tension, circulation and body fluid drainage.

Are all patients adjusted in the same way?2020-12-31T03:02:49-05:00

No. The doctor evaluates each patient’s unique spinal problem and develops an individual course of care. The resulting recommendations are based upon years of training and experience. Some patients, who complain of headaches, may actually have a neck problem that is causing a compensation reaction at the base of the skull. Other patients may be experiencing numbness and tingling in their fingers, when the actual problem is in the neck. Every patient presents a uniquely different spinal pattern, and with it an equally unique challenge. Patients notice that their chiropractic care is delivered with confidence and precision, and each visit builds on the one before.

How long will I need chiropractic care?2020-12-31T03:02:14-05:00

It depends. Spinal problems neglected from early childhood may require ongoing supportive care for optimum spinal function. These long standing problems are often associated with muscle weakness, soft tissue damage, and degenerative changes to the spine. Most patients find that periodic chiropractic checkups help keep them in tip-top shape. Those who are active, have stressful jobs, or want to be their very best, find that a schedule of preventive visits are helpful in maintaining good health. Some patients seek chiropractic care only when their aches or pains become unbearable: While this style of “crisis management” is usually more costly and time consuming, our office stands ready to help all patients, regardless of their health goals. How long you decide to benefit from chiropractic care is always up to you.
